Lately, it feels like we’re all in a collective pause—waiting for a moment that feels a little lighter. Weeks like these, when I’m feeling especially tender, stretched thin, or creatively adrift, I find myself reaching for beauty—seeking out small things that expand my perspective, reset my senses, and remind me of what’s still good.
What’s that quote from The Godfather? “Go to the mattresses”?
Well, for me, when things get tough, I go to the galleries.
Affinities: Anni Albers, Josef Albers, Paul Klee at David Zwirner through April 19th
Earlier this week, I wandered into Affinities at David Zwirner—a quietly powerful show that pairs visual echoes across time, artists, and ideas. But it was Josef Albers who held my attention the longest. Standing in front of those squares felt like an invitation to experiment, to trust my eye, to play. By the time I left the gallery, I was buzzing. I went home and immediately started a new Pinterest board just to track color combinations

Laura Owens at Matthew Marks Gallery through April 19th
The Laura Owens show at the Matthew Marks Gallery might be one of the most beautiful and innovative installations I’ve seen in a while—offering a much-needed escape from reality. With 100 layers of silkscreened linen adorned with oil, watercolor, sand, and resin, these paintings left a lasting impression on me.

Blue and brown—the quiet elegance of nature’s palette.
You know when you never notice something, and then suddenly, you start seeing it everywhere? That’s exactly what happened when I fell in love with a vintage wood and pale blue cotton velvet loveseat at Quarters, a concept store and gallery in Tribeca. Soft yet rich, earthy yet elegant, the color palette left such an impression on me that I even (half-jokingly) proposed moving just to justify the purchase and design an entire room around it. Later in the week, I spotted these gorgeous satin Alaïa mules in similar shades of blue and brown—slightly more affordable and far more practical than a couch (no moving required).

Seen anything beautiful lately? Send it my way—I’m collecting sparks of joy.
